DISTINGUISHED LEFTY
Tom Glavine began his baseball career back in 1984 when he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves organization. He made his Major League debut August 17, 1987 against the Houston Astros and notched his first career win one start later on August 22 - a 10-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Glavine amassed a lengthy, successful reign with the Braves (which included two Cy Young awards, five seasons of 20 or more wins, and a World Series MVP), before heading to the New York Mets in December 2002 via free agency.
On August 5, 2007, he became just the 23rd pitcher in Major League Baseball to win his 300th career game, as the Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs 8-3 at Wrigley Field.
After five seasons with the Mets, Glavine became a free agent in November 2007 and returned to the Braves, signing a deal with the team he began his storied career with.
Glavine made 13 starts in the 2008 season, undergoing season-ending elbow and shoulder surgery. After rehabbing during the offseason, Glavine agreed to a one-year deal with the Braves on February 20, 2009, but he suffered a shoulder-related setback and was eventually released by the Braves on June 3.
Glavine announced his retirement on February 11, 2010 and was hired as a special assistant to team president John Schuerholz. He assists him on baseball and business projects, and works on special assignments for general manager Frank Wren. Glavine also does occasional Braves TV and radio broadcasts as well.
On August 6, 2010, Glavine was inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame and had his number retired in a pre-game ceremony.

I guess they were looking up how many times Tom Glavine won Player of the Month honors and they mentioned they got the information off this site. Anyway, while you all bear with me for slacking, you can check out an interview with Tom posted on Yahoo HERE. |
