What is The Rally Foundation?

Rally Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds specifically for childhood cancer research through nationally-coordinated grassroots fundraising initiatives. Proceeds support pediatric cancer research to find better treatments and cures for childhood cancers.

The Money In The Mitt Campaign:

Tom and his wife Chris were personally touched when Will Hennessey, a child from the school their kids attend, was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma. The Glavines and the Rally Foundation teamed up to help with the Money in the Mitt campaign to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Glavine and other Mizuno Brand Ambassador Athletes are asking baseball players and fans to help the program by having fundraisers to raise money for the Rally Foundation. AFLAC will match contributions up to $50,000. For more information and for fundraising ideas, visit the Rally Foundation web site.

The foundation kick started the Money in the Mitt 300 Challenge in 2007, with the goal being to raise $300,000. To work toward that goal, the foundation is offering custom-designed and autographed items for different donation levels. Prizes include a t-shirt, hat, autographed baseball, tote bag, polo shirt or autographed baseball glove.

People can also sponsor a childhood cancer survivor at a survivorship clinic and receive a limited-edition Vineyard Vines Tom Glavine tie, commemorating his 300th career win. The cost of the sponsorship is $1,000.

Benefit Bash

On November 15, 2007 the Rally Foundation held their inaugural Benefit Bash with Glavine and other Mizuno athletes. The event, held at the Fox Theatre in downtown Atlanta, featured a silent and live auction, entertainment and a presentation about the Foundation. The evening raised more than $175,000 for childhood cancer research.
