What is GTF?
The Georgia Transplant
Foundation is focused on
providing both financial and
educational assistance for those
undergoing or waiting for a
transplant. Today, GTF is the
primary source for transplant
patient assistance and support
for all solid organ
transplantation in the entire
state of Georgia.
How Glavine Got Involved:
After a friend of Glavine's
put a flyer in his mailbox about
money needed for transplant
recipients during recovery, he
became a founding board member
and a celebrity spokesman for
GTF.
“GTF is dedicated to helping
transplant recipients and their
families. The work it does
changes the lives of those
recovering from a transplant by
the extensive resources it
provides,” Glavine said.
Tom Glavine's Spring
Training:
Since it's start in 1992, Tom
Glavine's "Spring Training"
event has generated more than
$4.3 million to benefit the
Georgia transplant community.
The event, a night of friendly
competition to raise money and
awareness for the transplant
community, allows attendees to
bid on items in a silent and
live auction as well as mingle
with other athletes and
challenge them to games of
ping-pong, air hockey,
blackjack, pool, poker and more.
2008's event, held in the
Oceans Ballroom at the Georgia
Aquarium, raised more than
$500,000 for transplant
candidates, recipients, living
donors, and their family members
throughout the state of Georgia. More information on this year's event
can be found HERE.
