GLAVINE FEELING GOOD AFTER MOUND SESSION

Tom Glavine threw off the mound Friday for the first time since having surgery on both his elbow and shoulder in August. Glavine threw 15 pitches — all fastballs — and came away feeling good, if not a little rusty.
“It felt like I hadn’t thrown off a mound in a long time,” Glavine said. “But physically it felt good. I’m not overly concerned with location and that stuff yet, but I felt good. By the end, I felt more comfortable letting it go a little bit.”
Glavine plans to throw again Tuesday, working up to 30 pitches this time. He anticipates feeling less hesitant each time out.
“It’s going to take a little while until I get to the point where it’s second nature to let it go,” Glavine said.
Glavine, 42, is hoping to return to the Braves this season but won’t rush to get back by a certain point. He doesn’t plan to talk contract with the Braves until he’s confident he’ll be healthy enough to pitch.
