You've been warned … I'm boring

Workout Update
I’ve continued to run 30 minutes every other day. I recently purchased a new pair of running shoes (Nike) and also bought the Nike+ sportband so I could track my distance, pace, calories burned, etc. I used it for the first time yesterday and really liked it. Yesterday was the first time I really got an idea of how far I was running. My old running shoes were okay but I definitely feel a difference between the two.

Yesterday I ran approx. 3.21 miles in 30 minutes and averaged 9’21″/mi.  I think that’s what it was. Well, I won’t win any races EVER, but I never thought I would.  I’m not delusional. And hey, running 3 miles every other day isn’t too shabby for a person who wasn’t running at all before June of this year.

The weather has been slightly cooler in the morning — 70s this week as opposed to upper 80s (It’s still hot has heck during the day though – 100s). Oh gosh, I forgot how good 70s feel. It motivated me to lace up the running shoes again this morning. I decided to just run a “quick” mile and see how I did with that.  I did the mile in about 8:19 min. (More or less. My armband said 1 mile exactly but when I loaded it onto the computer it had it as 0.99 mi. So, add on a few more seconds to that to get an actual mile I guess) Again, won’t win any races, but not bad, I don’t think, considering I’ve only been doing it for a few months.

I figure I will continue to do the 30 minute runs every other day and maybe on a few of the days in between, I’ll run a mile … kind of switch things up a bit and get a little extra exercise in. I’ll try to leave at least one day per week as a rest day. Maybe if I do this, I can improve on my times a little bit.

I figure that’s the important thing — continue to enjoy it and see if I can improve on my personal results. The thing I don’t need to do is what I did yesterday — read running web sites to see what other people’s times are when they do 5K and miles and whatnot. Because if you do that, you realize you are a REALLY slow runner and you don’t feel as good about your runs as you did when you first finished them. lol. But, hey. I’m NEVER going be a speed demon or anything, so I should just be happy with the fact that I’m out there doing it.

I’ll try to do that. I really am enjoying it. I never thought that’d be the case.
